Manual therapy — 도수치료 — is the most widely disclosed non-covered treatment in Korea, published by 2315 hospitals. If one number describes Korean private healthcare, it is this one.
The treatments and what they cost

Manual therapy is hands-on mobilisation by a therapist or doctor, typically 20 to 30 minutes.
Shockwave therapy applies acoustic pulses to tendon and soft-tissue problems: plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, calcific tendinitis.
Prolotherapy injects an irritant solution near ligaments or tendons, intended to provoke a healing response. Priced separately for limb joints and for spine.
Interventional procedures
For nerve pain that has not responded to conservative treatment, Korean hospitals offer catheter-based procedures billed as one-off treatments rather than sessions.
| Procedure | Median | Range | Hospitals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Percutaneous epidural neuroplasty | ₩1,700,000 $1,220 | ₩200,000 – ₩4,500,000 | 785 |
| Endoscopic epidural neuroplasty | ₩3,300,000 $2,370 | ₩636,300 – ₩6,290,000 | 243 |
These are genuine medical procedures with genuine risks, decided on imaging and examination rather than on price. The figures are here so you can recognise a quote, not so you can shop.
The imaging that comes first
Nobody treats spinal or joint pain without looking at it. Expect at least one scan, and note that MRI is not covered for most indications and so appears in the disclosed prices.
| Procedure | Median | Range | Hospitals |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lumbar spine MRI | ₩450,000 $320 | ₩120,000 – ₩1,037,370 | 1016 |
| Cervical spine MRI | ₩450,000 $320 | ₩120,000 – ₩1,094,330 | 1015 |
| Knee MRI | ₩450,000 $320 | ₩120,000 – ₩960,000 | 1021 |
| Shoulder MRI | ₩450,000 $320 | ₩120,000 – ₩960,000 | 1021 |
If you are travelling for this
Session-based treatment is a poor fit for a short trip. A course spread over weeks means either an extended stay or an interrupted course, and an interrupted course is not obviously worth paying for.
It fits better added to a trip you are already making, or for people staying in Korea for other reasons. A one-off interventional procedure is a different calculation and can make sense as a dedicated visit.
Every disclosing hospital is listed on the pain treatment category page.
Figures on this page are read from the published disclosure data at build time, so they match the price pages exactly. This is general information about published prices, not medical advice, and it does not recommend any hospital. Confirm any figure with the hospital before treatment.
